AtlantiCare - 2023 Recipient of the Lou DeScioli Community Spirit Award

u joined the Community Partnership Board in December of 2005, back when our organization was in its infancy. Lou was an EHT resident; father of five; an original member of the EHT Schools Strategic Planning Committee; a long-time Somers Point businessman; member of the Somers Point Education Foundation; past president of both the Somers Point Rotary Club and Somers Point Business Association, and co-leader of the EHTHS Interact Club.
Lou brought experience, knowledge, civic mindedness, intuitiveness, and sensibility to the Community Partnership. On May 29, 2008, he took over as president and remained at the helm until May 17, 2011. He was the epitome of what a President should be! His strong leadership skills, forward-thinking, business sense, sense of humor, integrity, and can-do attitude took the Community Partnership to the next level and demonstrated not only his commitment to the students and staff of Egg Harbor Township School District, but to the entire community. Lou was an incredibly benevolent individual who always led by example, and never expected or asked anything from anyone that he wasn’t willing to do himself.

Coach Cameron Bell - Recipient of the 2023 George Wilkinson Staff Member of the Year Award

George Wilkinson's favorite lesson to share with students was his 'givers vs. takers' speech using "The Starfish Story" as his script. He knew he couldn't change the entire world, but he was committed to making a positive contribution in the life of someone else every single day.
George was a giver. At 6’3”, big as a bear, and with a heart and personality the size of Texas, George was affectionately known as “Coach” or “Wilk” to his students, his peers, and his friends. For more than three decades, he inspired others here with his extraordinary gift of making every person who crossed his path feel important and valued. He encouraged positive behaviors among students, fostered a sense of belonging for all students and their families, and instilled the meaning of respect for all in the classroom, on the sports field and among his co-workers. In short, George cultivated Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in and out of the classroom long before it was a thing.
As a longtime beloved football and track coach to throngs of students, he inspired and motivated high school athletes to reach for their personal best every day. He accomplished this without yelling or making them run extra laps. He did it the old-fashioned way -- with love, respect and constant encouragement. The kids believed in themselves because they knew Wilk believed in them. He spent every ounce of energy he had to bring out the best in EHT students and through his kindness and generosity, he taught them to be givers too.
